Canada's national learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. This program focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Participants earn badges and other incentives as they learn fundamental skating skills. Lessons are given in a group format led by an NCCP certified professional coach and assisted by trained Program Assistants. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches conduct sessions using teaching aids, music and a wide variety of activities that create a fun environment and promote learning. Sessions are 45 minutes in length, and include a large group warm-up and cool-down component. CanSkate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada Skating Programs.

Program Description:

Pre-STARSkate is an advancement from the CanSkate program; skaters in this program are working on CanSkate Stages 4, 5 & 6.

The design of this program is to introduce parents and skaters to the more individualized training of  figure skating. It is a great way to develop a skater’s skill while participating in a group lesson along with time to practice the new skills.

While not required, to help develop the skater’s skill  private instruction from one of the club’s professional coaches may begin at this time. 

One must have figure skates to participate in the Pre-STARSkate Program. After time spent in this program the natural progression would be to enter Skate Canada’s STARSkate and Competitive programs offered.

Program Description:

POWER SKATE

This is a joint program offered by Skate Amherstburg and the Amherstburg Admirals OHL Hockey Club. The program CANPOWER is a Skate Canada sanctioned nationally recognized power skating program taught by NCCP certified instructors and skilled on ice assistants.

Participants must have basic forward and backward skating skills to register. Full hockey gear is required.

 

$35 Skate Canada Insurance Fee is added once per membership year (September 1 - August 31st) at checkout.

Those who have not yet learned basic skating skills should begin with CanSkate to learn to skate.

Program Description:

Continuing the off-ice program started when Skate Amherstburg received the RBC Learn to Play Project Grant, we are

Synchronized skating, or “synchro” is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of eight or more skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow. Skate Canada’s SynchroSkate program includes a number of Synchronized Skating categories which accommodate skaters at any age and skill level.
